Sierra 8806 is a dual-port 40Gbps Fiber NIC based on Cavium’s CN8370 OCTEON TX processor. The Sierra 8806’s connection to the host system is through a PCI-e x8 Generation 3 interface with maximum throughput of 64Gbps. This sophisticated NIC enables main CPU offload for essential network processing.
Sierra 8806 incorporates hardware and software building blocks for developing intelligent networking platforms that support the growing demand for network acceleration and application offload for converged datacenter applications such as Next Generation Firewalls, WAN Optimization, application delivery (ADC) controllers and 4G/LTE infrastructure applications.
