RSA Expo, San Francisco, CA, February 26th, 2013 – Interface Masters Technologies, an industry leader in networking solutions, today announced a one-of-a-kind industry first 40G Intelligent Active Bypass Switch with 10G “PacketMaster” traffic monitoring functionality to add to its established world class line of 40 Gigabit, 10 Gigabit and 1G Intelligent active bypass switches and PacketMaster systems. The Niagara 2841 40G Intelligent External Active bypass is designed to integrate with Inline Networking Devices, Security Appliances, and Central Office applications. Niagara 2841 consists of a single segment of 40Gb bypass which possesses active and passive bypass switching capabilities and 8 additional 10G SFP+ PacketMaster ports for flexible 10G or 1G monitoring of network traffic. The PacketMaster ports enable granular and accurate session based loadbalancing of network traffic, mirroring of one to many or many to many, extensive filtering, packet slicing and aggregation of many to one port. The active bypass feature enables seamless failover without interrupting the communication session in the case of a hardware failure, software crash or link loss. In the case of a power outage, the passive bypass functionality will ensure that the network continues to flow. Niagara 2841 also enables plug-and-play connectivity and includes Interface Masters’ auto heartbeat technology which requires no additional drivers to be installed on connected appliances.

The Niagara 2841 40Gb bypass is managed by a sophisticated controller which supports a wide variety of control and management capabilities. The system provides flexible and intuitive CLI and GUI management features including secure web UI via an HTTPS connection, secure shell (SSH), SNMP, e-mail notification for special events, and bypass method configuration. An authentication client capable of interfacing with TACACS+ authentication servers is supported. In addition, the bypass system possesses Syslog support, enabling consolidation of log data from various systems into a central repository. This feature provides management, traceability and security auditing across a wide variety of devices and receivers on multiple platforms.

The new Niagara 42064-xx and 3271x-xx specialized network interface card families are designed to integrate with PCI-express (PCI-e) based Inline Networking Servers, including WAN Acceleration, UTM, SAN and NAS appliances, IPS Systems, and Security and Monitoring Appliances such as Firewalls, IDS systems, and Analysis Probes. The 1G server adapter family members, support standard RJ45 ports while the 10G server adapter family members support SFP and SFP+ pluggable modules for Multi-Mode (SR) and Single-Mode (LR).

The new Niagara 42064-xx Quad Port 1 Gigabit Copper NIC family members provide PCI-e Gen 3.0 (8 GT/s) support, low power operation, and intelligent queue support (including virtual machine data queues) optimized for multi-core processors. The Intel 82580 also offers VLAN tag insertion, stripping and packet filtering for up to 4096 VLAN tags, Transmit and receive IP, TCP and UDP checksum offloading capabilities and extensive power management features. In addition, the controller possesses specialized features including jumbo frame size of 9.5 KB, load balancing of network traffic flow, IPv6 Offloading, Receive Side Scaling (RSS), and Direct Cache Access. The Driver has broad OS support including Windows, Linux, Free BSD, VMware ESX, XEN and Hyper-V.

The Niagara 3271x-xx NIC family members provide PCI-e Gen 3.0 (8 GT/s). Intel’s 82599 10GbE Controller supports low power 6.2W operation, and intelligent queue support optimized for multicore processors consisting of 128 Transmit (Tx) and Receive (Rx) Queues. The 82599 also offers Intel's Virtualization Technology for Connectivity (VT-c), which helps reduce I/O bottlenecks, boost throughput, and reduces latency. The Virtual Machine Device Queues improve performance by offloading the data-sorting burden from the virtual machine manager (VMM) to the network controller. The server adapter possesses specialized features including layer 2 & 3 security including IPSec & LinkSec, Intel® I/OAT Acceleration v3.0, VLAN Tagging, Stripping & Packet Filtering, Segmentation/offload, and SNMP/RMON statistic counters.

Cavium’s highly regarded Cavium Nitrox 16xx security and hardware acceleration chip family provides SSL, IPSec, TCP/UDP/IP checksum offload and TCP segmentation on chip. The 16xx chip family enables 2.5Gbps (RC4+MD5) SSL throughput, 2.5Gbps (AES/3DES+SHA1) IPsec or CCMP wireless packet processing and up to 17k RSA 1024 bit exponent with CRT.
