INTERFACE MASTERS Technologies adds a new 6-Port Member to its Copper Network Interface Cards Family based on Intel 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller.
The new network interface card is complementing the Copper Gigabit PCI Express Internal Bypass NIC offering

San Jose, California, May 28, 2008 – Interface Masters Technologies, an industry leader and innovator in networking solutions, today introduced the additional 6 port Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express Internal Bypass Network Interface Card (NIC). Based on Intel 82571EB Gigabit Ethernet Controller, these NIC products are designed to support Gigabit rates and throughput for inline Internet Security appliances, WAN Acceleration Systems, Packet classification, QoS, Gateways and network servers. The Gigabit Bypass NIC, which is built on Interface Masters’ unique Bypass technology, protects the network in the event of power loss or software crash. All network traffic is made visible while eliminating data loss during network downtime. When power is restored, the monitoring ports return to active mode and the in-line device is allowed to resume its critical functions.

“Interface Masters is committed to its customers and will continue introducing reliable and cost effective products following customer requirements. We are continuously introducing new members and complementing the Gigabit Copper NIC bypass family by utilizing our expertise in networking and adding features and capabilities. The Niagara 2266 is well accepted and in production at several leading vendors in the UTM market, Intrusion Detection & Prevention and WAN Acceleration markets. .” said Ben Askarinam, Senior VP at Interface Masters Technologies. “We are currently in the final design stages of our Internal Intelligent Bypass line of products which will provide another lever of reliability to critical links in the network.”

The 6-port member can also be available as a regular 6-port Cooper Gigabit PCI Express NIC that supports up to 2.5 Gbps traffic per PCI Express lane. Each Ethernet port can drive up to 2 Gbps full duplex which totals to 12 Gbps. The Cooper Gigabit PCI Express family consists of dual-port and quad-port NICs that are offered in 2 main flavor combinations, Bypass and Security NIC, in which the security part is optional. The security NIC flavor is based on the Cavium CN-1010 and CN-1120.

The Niagara 2266 Internal Network Bypass provides the following features and capabilities:

  • The unique Interface Masters efficient and low power module
  • Intel’s 82571EB controller
  • Peak bandwidth 2.5 Gbps in each direction per PCI Express lane
  • Programmable “Close” or “Open” while in the power off state
  • Six integrated PHYs for 10/100/1000 Mb/s full- and half-duplex operation
  • IEEE 802.3ab, 802.3u, 802.3x compliant
  • Host offloading – TCP/IP/UDP checksum, TCP segmentation and advanced packet filtering
  • Six RJ45 Connectors

Availability

The Niagara 2266 Internal Gigabit Bypass NIC is available now and is targeted at Internet Service Providers (ISP), Telcos, and OEMs at the critical IT sector requiring Security, UTM market, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Intrusion Detection & Prevention and WAN Acceleration.
