INTERFACE MASTERS Technologies Introduces
Internal 10 Gigabit Bypass Network Interface Card at Interop Las Vegas.
10 Gigabit PCI Express Internal Bypass NIC based on Intel 82598 10 Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Network Interop 2008 Las Vegas NV, and San Jose, California, April 25, 2008 – Interface Masters Technologies, an industry leader and innovator in networking solutions, today introduced the new 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) PCI Express Internal Bypass product line designed to support 10 Gigabit rates and throughput of inline Internet Security appliances, WAN Acceleration Systems, Gateways and network servers. The 10 Gigabit Bypass NIC retains link and traffic forwarding with the Bypass technology from Interface Masters and protects the network against link failure in the event of power loss or software crash. All traffic is visible without the worry of data loss or network downtime. When power is restored the monitoring ports return to active mode, and the in-line device is allowed to resume its critical functions.

10 Gigabit Ethernet has moved past the early adoption stage and is rapidly becoming the mainstay for backbones within enterprise and service provider networks. The escalating deployments of servers with multi-core processors and demanding applications such as high-performance computing, database clusters, and video on demand are driving the need for a 10 Gigabit connection.

“We are excited to get into the10 Gigabit market and launch this new internal Bypass PCI express product line and support our existing customers with these unique capabilities.” said Ben Askarinam, Senior VP at Interface Masters Technologies. “The Niagara 2710, based on Intel’s 82598 10-Gigabit Ethernet Controller, provides passive Bypass capabilities and it will be enhanced to support the unique intelligent Bypass features from Interface Masters in the coming quarter.”

The Niagara 2710 product line provides the following features and capabilities:

  • Supports SFP modules
  • Supports 10 Gigabit, SR (Short Range) & LR (Long Range)
  • Based on Intel’s 82598 Ethernet Controller
  • Optimized for 10 Gigabit networks
  • Programmable “Close” or “Open” while in the power off state
  • Programmable independent mode to function as dual 10 Gigabit copper card
  • PCI-e x8
  • Supports stateless offloads such as TCP segmentation offload, header replications/splitting, and Direct Cache Access (DCA) to lower CPU utilization
  • Advanced filtering capabilities (IPv4, IPv6)
  • IEEE 802.1q* virtual local area network (VLAN) support with VLAN tag insertion, stripping and packet filtering for up to 4096 VLAN tags

Availability

The Niagara 2710 Internal 10 Gigabit Bypass NIC is available now and is targeted at Internet Service Providers (ISP), Telcos, and OEMs at the critical IT sector requiring Security, UTM market, Storage Area Networks (SAN), Intrusion Detection & Prevention and WAN Acceleration. Interface Masters Technologies is showcasing the Niagara 2710 and its complete product lines at the Interop show in Las Vegas April 27th- May 2nd Booth: #1211.
